There's a high likelihood that you'll already have existing Teams on your tenant by the time you start using Teams Manager.
Since these Teams were created outside of Teams Manager, they won't be based on one of your Templates and thus won't adhere to your governance policies, including Naming Conventions and Lifecycles.
In order to make sure that you can easily convert these unmanaged Teams into managed ones, we've implemented a Conversion Bot that will allow you to restructure your tenant within the span of a few minutes.
Let's take a detailed look at the conversion process together to fully understand how it can be applied to your governance infrastructure.
π This feature is accessible exclusively to enterprise customers.

π Converting Teams
Navigate to Settings > Expert mode > Unmanaged teams.
βConsider enabling the Converting unmanaged teams creates a request toggle to submit a separate request for each converted Team.
βIf you'd like to exclude specific Teams from the conversion process, simply click on the + Manage excluded teams button and tick off the checkmarks next to the Teams you'd like to exclude. These Teams will subsequently appear under the Excluded teams dropdown.
βOnce you're ready, you can click on Start converting teams to begin the conversion process.
βYou'll be notified that the process has successfully begun, while Team Owners will receive individual conversion messages for each Team that they're responsible for.
βAs a Team Owner, click the Add team to Teams Manager button on the interactive card you've received via the Teams Manager Bot.
βYou'll be greeted with a pop-up asking you to select a Template to base the Team on.
βOnce the Template has been selected, you'll have the option to change the Team Name and view the related Description and Visibility settings.
βClicking Next at this stage will present you with a final rundown of Team characteristics, essentially replicating the final screen displayed during regular Team Approval.
βClicking on Create will trigger the actual conversion process, and you can expect your newly converted Team to appear in Teams Manager within the span of about 5 minutes.
π Conversion Results
Once the Conversion process has been completed, you'll notice that the Team in question will be indistinguishable from ones created directly through a Template.
The Team will:
Adhere to the Naming Conventions assigned to the Template.
Fall under the Lifecycle Policy attached to the Template.
Be included in Reports for administrative tracking.
