Teams Manager allows you to implement a solid governance structure into Microsoft Teams (and other services) by adding a variety of managerial tools.
Templates - You can create a variety of Templates for different use cases, which serve as the basis for future teams. Users will have to select one of these Templates and fill out a variety of additional information before submitting it to the Admin/Team Owner, who gets to review all aspects of the request and adjust them before approval. Templates are a great way to structure your Teams environment and allow you to cater to different departments and project types. For instance, you can create a Marketing Project template that will serve as the basis for all marketing projects, you can add specific apps, channels, and members by default, and experiment with other aspects of team configuration.
Metadata - With Metadata, you can add additional fields to the request process to extract more information from the requesters. You have a variety of options, including text, dropdown, checkbox, and calendar fields, allowing you to maximize user convenience and information density.
Lifecycles - You can configure pre-set lifespans for separate teams, allowing you to choose a period of time after which a given team will be archived. You can even set up automatic deletion after a set period from the archival passes. Notifications are sent out prior to team archival to give you the ability to easily extend it if you need to. Overall, it's a great way to debloat your tenant from old, unused spaces.
Naming Conventions - With Naming Conventions, you can add default prefixes and suffixes to teams that are based on certain Templates, giving you the ability to standardize naming across your entire tenant. You can even automatically add the information from specific Metadata fields directly to the naming conventions, further simplifying the naming structure.
Policy Packages - You can combine different governance aspects into a cohesive managerial package that executes all of them when certain conditions are met. They're great for situations when you want to apply several rules to a given set of Templates and allow you to simplify day-to-day operations.
These are just a few core features of Teams Manager, but there are a lot of nuanced options to explore.
